Was sitting in my stand this morning and I thought hmmm..I have a camera phone. What kind of pictures can I get. I don't know what it is with me a pictures of deer they never seem to want to turn out. I took one this morning of a doe, I admit it wasn't the best picture, however for some reason when I uploaded it it is too small ( the picture) where as this one is nice and clear and much much bigger. Anyway, was a good day, watched a couple of deer go by and relaxed.

So Adam and I went hunting last week on Rememberence day, nice day, perfect weather, we were just about at the spot where we normally park the truck when to our surprise, the rickity old bridge that we had been driving over for the last couple of years, had finally gotten partially washed away. It's approx 6am and nice and dark out. We found a couple of railway ties in the middle of the bridge(what's left of it) that were blocking our way. So, down comes the tailgate, I lay down on the tailgate and Adam backs the truck into the water. I had to tie a strap around the railway tie and pull it out of the way. I wish I had a picture of it. Anyway, we managed to get both railway ties pulled out of the way. We looked and noticed that there was just enough room to get the truck accross the bridge. So we did...It worked, surprisingly! We went hunting in the morning and wwent to our usual lunch spot, Curly Portables, managed to cross the bridge again.
After returning from Curly's we noticed that even more of the bridge had washed away and we were not sure if we should try crossing it....we did anyway! :)
We were almost halfway accross with the front tires when the front passenger side tire dropped and hung up. well, it was a good try...so we backed the truck up, going to have to hoof it to the stands... We noticed while we were crossing the bridge that there was a Quad parked on the other side. So of course, what is the first thing that we think of?? Someone is using our stands! So we start making our way to the stands when this 1 ton flat bed comes down the trail. Apparently, the guy on the Quad hadn't noticed that the bridge wasn't umm..shall we say..complete. He swamped the bike. Apparently when he stood up in the river, he was up to hius arm pits. Good thing the truck didn't go off on that side. We helped him load the bike onto the truck. Poor bastard... Wonder if anyone has tried fixing the bridge yet...will go back this weekend and have a look... I should get some pictures of it and show ya's..
Guess what time it is? It's time again to bitch about the truck! Well, I dropped the truck off today to get the wheel bearing replaced and to have my mechanic look at the front differential that he had just installed about 3 weeks ago. When we returned from our doc's appointment, I stopped into the garage to check on his progress...The bearing in the NEW differential is
F%#ked! So, he has to remove the diff to see whet is involved in replacing the bearing. Turns out it's quite the process and he's not too comfortable attempting it. So, I have to wait for them to bring in a new diff from Blenkhorn's on Monday. Of course, he has it dis-assembled to the point where it is pointless to put it back together until he gets the new differential. LUCKILY I wont have to pay for this one, the diff is under warranty and the labour wont cost me anything. However the wheel bearing STILL needs to be replaced. I am now driving a big Silverado HD 2500 series. It's nice, but rides like a bus.
So tomorrow I am finally raising the deck up level with the house and getting rid of the small steps. We are also moving the stairs to the other side of the deck to get rid of the icy step syndrome in the winter. The water falls off the roof and directly onto the steps, like a skating rink. It may not be perfect this year but it'll be alot safer.
I'll keep you posted about the truck, it's almost a little saga in itself!
