Here is rob with some deer picture envy. When he got his buck 2 years ago we took a bunch of pictures with a disposabe camera, that we lost in the woods. He ended up with no pictures, and nice 10 point antlers that he couldnt mount. He decided to make my doe into a buck by holding the antlers on. I wonder if we can use this pic to fool DNR into registering it as a buck.......
(just kidding of course)
We're in trouble again. I got my first deer sat night around 6. A nice doe somewher around 175 lbs on the hoof. So of course were late getting rob home. When we got to robs place Colby had to see the deer, he had a few questions but seemed ok. Here is where we got in trouble; Tina took him back inside and Colby started telling her that he was going to shoot the next one. He's got a few years to wait for that though, and we still have a buck to try for.

Here's the next bit of damage to the silverado. I was backing it out of a swampy area and caught a stick under the bumper. I actually like the look better with less bumper on the front. I may only put the top part back on. The other pics are robs truck going through the same area, you cant really see it at night but my boot was in the water.

Well the film is developed so here are the pics. Ill start with the first, about 2 weeks ago I went on a helo crash/escape course for the fun of it. Being a moron, I forgot to put film in the camera, so I dont have any pics of me. I went out afterwards and got film to take these shots with.

Well, since people want to know what is happening with the truck...ITS BROKEN AGAIN! I should have kept the ford! Or maybe the S-10 was secretly made by Ford. Anyways, turns out that the front differential bearing is gone. So, the cheapest and easiest thing to do is to replace the entire Dif. Well, how much would you think? Apparently a used DIF WITH ONLY 143,000 ON IT IS ONLY $460.00 + LABOR!
Think next time I'm buying a new truck! Although what do you expect from a truck that is 12 yrs old and has over 331,000 kms on it!

Well, there are those out there who say we havn't posted anything in over a week. I am sorry that we havn't really done anything exciting in the last week. Hard to do anything outdoors when you're working. However, we did go into the woods on Sunday right after I got off work, again we went back to check on the tree stands and do some last minute prep for this weekend. After the rain on Sunday we were washed out again so I had to cross the river with the truck again. The water was about 4" higher this time. Let's just say that when Adam opened the passenger door it was in the water. Luckily the angle of the truck kept the water from coming into the cab, it was DAMN close though. Pictures to follow as soon as Adam gets them developed.

Ok, I have to tell you..Anyone with a son can relate to me. As you can see, I took colby hunting and off roading with myself and Adam yesterday. Here you can see Colby, helping me shoot at a pumpkin (which you can't see), he is beside himself with excitement. I have lost my hunting cap that I have worn every year now pretty much since I started, oohhh about 16 years ago I think. Long time...Well, now it's Colby's and he loves it! Couldn't get him to take it off when we were in the truck! Adam and I brought the shotguns with us yesterday and decided that we would expose Colby to the noise, see if he'd be ok with it. I GUESS!! He was laughing and having a great time! Adam took a shot at a pumpkin with the 12 guage, Pumpkin everywhere! All over the truck, splattering back at us, and he was having a blast! He was picking up the "picks" as he was calling them, it was all the spent shotgun casings, collect3ed them and put them on the tailgate.
I was teaching him the little things about being in the woods hunting, about being quiet, showed him some deer poop, tracks, showed him my tree stand, of course you can guess what he wanted to do, wanted to climb up into it. He was a little trooper! Sat on my lap the whole way into the woods helping me drive, splashing through the puddles, bouncing around everywhere! While I was bring the truck up the trail and back out, Colby was in the passenger seat just grinning ear to ear!
It was a proud day for me I have to tell you. Finally something that he and I can enjoy together, Can't wait to bring him out this year and shoot the .22 with me.

Here is a picture of my little hunter to be!

Don't forget about the river!

Ok, turned around now..Let's get going...
Step 2, find a spot to park, anywhere will do, I guess.......

This is step one....crossing the river
Just to put things into perspective... this is me, pulling the truck off the "ROAD"

Rob is just learning to park. He had to get out and check to make sure he was far enough off the road.
Road kill diner menu

Coming out of the woods we are now 4 for 4. Saw a doe first time, then another doe, then just some snack food, then 2 does together this last time. the deer picture was taken late at night from a distance so its not great quality.

So, for those of you who don't know, I recently installed a 2" body lift kit onto my S-10. Did not think it was a big deal, get some Nylon, cut it into blocks, drill the holes, jack the body, put them in, Bob's your uncle! NOT!! Just goes to show, you should ask questions first rather than putting out fires after the job is "DONE"!

Anyway, after finally getting almost everything fixed on the truck, still trying to troubleshoot a knocking noise that appeared after I lifted the body, I finally have the last part on order for the truck. The truck right now looks like it was in an accident due to the front bumper. It's about 2" too low, go figure. Anyway, wish I had know right from the start how much a 2" lift kit cost from the dealer, I was under the understanding that it was about $400.00, turns out that it was about $160.00 + tax. I spent $80.00 on Nylon, $60.00 on bolts, $70.00 on mechanic charge to have shift linkage lengthened....can you figure out which would have been cheaper???

Anyway, NOT going to do that again! Long story short, Truck looks good! If there is anybody looking for a good off road shop, call APJ automotive, the guys there are very good!

Kids say the cutest things...I was in the car the other day with Adam and Colby. We had just left Canadian Tire after Colby managed to swindle a pile of Canadian Tire money out of myself and Adam, when out of nowhere he asks uncle Adam what he wishes for. So, Adam being Adam, he responds..."A Hot Redhead!" To which Colby comes back.." How much Canadian Tire money does that cost?" Well we lost it. Adam proceeds to tell Colby that they dont accept Canadian Tire money. To which Colby responds, "How do you pay for it then?" The conversation went downhill from there... It was pretty darn cute at the time.. I guess Tina was going to the Superstore with Colby yesterday when he asks mommy, " Are we going to buy a hot Redhead for uncle Adam?"
